CAST A SHADOW I keep searching high and low for a place where I can rest a while I keep holding you so close my arms ache and I can barely breathe I'm under your spell in a raging storm you mess with my head and I want more I used to be free and now I’m walking in chains I follow your tracks and fade away your light cast a shadow in which I've been hiding will you ever let me go and wander my own path like I did before maybe some day you will know I've lost my mind through yearning and all my love is wasted I keep holding you so close your soul is what I long for I used to be free and now I’m walking in chains I follow your tracks and fade away your light cast a shadow in which I've been hiding
2.
How Lonely 04:21
HOW LONELY I leave a house full of strangers I step outside into the gloom the night is just a hollow whisper I guess I love this world of blue the darkened sky gives me cover my weary eyes will not be fooled everything is so much clearer my true colours will shine through how lonely it feels under the sea when your voice is calling into the fire when my flame is dying inside a dream when my soul is waking
3.
May Flowers 04:04
MAY FLOWERS I pick up a flower and don't remember what it's called I lay it to rest there between a lilac and a rose I sit back on the chair and time freezes memories float before our tired eyes and the girl with the golden voice is singing "hallelujah" life shivers and shines against the cold of death it's time to say goodbye while music fills the air and we surrender to the endless whirl of ghosts and shadows if there's a silver lining I will untie it from its cloud find some kind of blessing in the eternal darkness rising later on I daydream while kids hop around as if there was no tomorrow and the girl with the sweetest voice is singing "over the rainbow" life shivers and shines against the cold of death it's time to say goodbye while music fills the air and we surrender to the endless whirl of ghosts and shadows life shivers and shines against the cold of death it’s time to say goodbye while music fills the air life shivers and shines against the cold of death

YOU WON’T BE LOST he hides away inside his room and nobody's here to watch or listen some people say he's just a fool and has no sense of what is real outside the flowers are all in bloom children on swings are in heaven so many trails for you to choose but you've forgotten what is dear to you lean on me come closer close your eyes you won't be lost I walk alone into the room I feel a void wider than the ocean a cloud appears out of the blue your mind's forever out of reach you're half asleep in the gloom I crack a joke and you smile at me and now I'm left without a clue but these are the moments I want to steal lean on me come closer close your eyes you won't be lost your loneliness keeps haunting me like a wolf howling at my door the tenderness and love that I feel won’t be hidden anymore your face reminds me of the moon so pale and so hard to decipher a quiet voice whispers and croons that I should take you out of here lean on me come closer close your eyes you won't be lost
5.
To The Moon 03:06
TO THE MOON the lonely journey that I took was not learnt by the book I left on a whim without a note or a kiss and all the places that I've seen can’t compare to what I saw from my spaceship I travelled to the moon ‘cos I'd made a promise to you that I would pick up a stone from that old friend soon the earth was just a speck of dust and all my hopes turned to rust when I realized I was lost in space you know how I tend to drift away I travelled to the moon ‘cos I'd made a promise to you that I would pick up a stone from that old friend soon I travelled to the moon and I broke my promise to you
6.
HOW WE USED TO FEEL stay with me or walk away in tears do as you please now you know our wounds can’t be healed endlessly I left clues for you to read but you were too busy being afraid of everything I see your face pale with wonder in the dead of sleep I hear your voice and your laughter as I drift and float upstream hoping that some day you will remember how we used to feel leave me here there’s a storm across the hill it’s coming closer will you find it hard to breathe how to live with all the memories of when you were younger and thought you were made for being free I see your face pale with wonder in the dead of sleep I hear your voice and your laughter as I drift and float upstream hoping that some day you will remember how we used to feel dive with me swim with me where the river runs deep
7.
CRADLE OF LIGHT there’s a child in me who refuses to give in slips into my clothes when I wake up in the morning a little animal who won’t bark with the dogs and cries out whenever I forget to show her love there’s a man beside me, he is caught in a dream the devils inside him wage war relentlessly he turns to me and says “we’re on a quest for beauty I’ve been waiting too long for my soul to be set free” life is overflowing like a stream of tears like a cradle of light and the world disappears swept away with a frown when there’s too much too feel the sound of the river fills my dreams endlessly fairies and angels talk to me in my sleep I walk into dark woods and take in nature’s mysteries if only you knew how strange it is to be me everything that echoes in this room is precious every crack in the wall shows new worlds to us I came to you with open hands and an open heart nothing we’ve built here will ever fall apart life is overflowing like a stream of tears like a cradle of light and the world disappears swept away with a frown when there’s too much too feel
8.
HELLO STRANGER hello stranger in my mind’s eye pictures of you flicker I haven’t forgotten what we used to share and love and all our conversations lingering on how could we ever fall this low and not even feel shame or sorrow hang on to your halo before it’s swept away will I ever know why darkness came to stay goodbye stranger I knew your cold blue eyes would not surrender the walls you’ve built are strong and mine are paper-thin we played it out to perfection then you led me on how could we ever fall this low and not even feel shame or sorrow hang on to your halo before it’s swept away will I ever know why darkness came to stay
9.
THE WORLD WON’T REMEMBER YOUR NAME a dark-haired girl with her tambourine up here on the stage seizing the moment soon the wind will take away your dreams this is how it goes always I’m afraid the world won’t remember your name but for some reason I do remember your face how will you feel when the curtain falls and the honeymoon is over we’re slaves to what we leave behind this is how it goes always I’m afraid the world won’t remember your name but for some reason I do remember your face
10.
THE DARKEST WATERS she came back from the darkest waters and celebrated with a smile she got out of the deepest river and the light in her eyes will always shine I was playing my battered guitar strumming chords and waiting I never thought she'd have gone that far shedding so many tears lost again in haunted mazes echoing your desperate calls hoping that I would leave traces songs of love to heal your soul she found solace in her favourite colours the ones she paints and treasures she's the beauty that never flickers and the light in her eyes will always shine I was pounding away at the piano in the grip of time and shadows even if our spirits roam you know I'll keep you close lost again in haunted mazes echoing your desperate calls hoping that I would leave traces songs of love to heal your soul
11.
EVERYTHING COMES ALIVE I brush off the ashes of the past and shut down the voices inside rolling waves brought me here I found a home for weary dreamers the endless winter of the soul has given way to summertime The morning brings a blaze of light I follow trails of fading colours everything comes alive the wind and the feathers the dragonflies the swallow by the river my sleepy eyes loving faces floating by stay with me outside my shelter birds of prey up above lead me to the shallow water I want to stand here for a while and let my wildest fancies roam I’m haunted by the flowing stream and the sounds of passing creatures everything comes alive the wind and the feathers the dragonflies the swallow by the river my sleepy eyes the shadows and the flowers the silver clouds

about

THE SANDMAN’S ORCHESTRA is a duo made up of Pierre Laplace, a singer/songwriter from Lille, France, and his 16-year-old niece, Léonie Gabriel.

The story of the duo started in May 2010 when, after a family lunch, Léonie picked up a guitar and starting singing a few covers. Everybody was astounded by the beauty of her voice, and Pierre offered her straightaway to work on some songs together. It was a case of instant chemistry : as soon as they started singing together, Pierre and Léonie realized that their voices blended beautifully and that they shared the same musical sensibility. Pierre then started writing songs for the duo, layering down tracks in his home studio. Some of the songs are sung as duets, others are sung by Léonie alone. The young singer also added vocal harmonies of her own which show a musical sense that is amazing considering her age. She also wrote the music of the song "Cradle of Light".

“Silver Linings” is The Sandman’s Orchestra’s first album. Recorded and produced by Pierre in his home-studio, this record is a collection of atmospheric ballads with elements of folk songwriting and touches of jazz and electronica.
