if this is our swan song can I ruffle your feathers and pretend for a final moment we still belong together a bird of prey eats away at my heart in darkness he holds me tight his wings of steel they keep me trapped in the wax figure of the night hearts come undone as we watch vultures on the loose I follow you round cry over all the traps you fall into birdsong of the winter froze our faces we dug for beauty and a grain of truth in the ashes of the land but the dreams I dreamt with you they were built on sand now I have to draw the curtains on your tired eyes we’re an ocean and a world apart as the crow flies hearts come undone as we watch vultures on the loose I follow you round cry over all the traps you fall into birdsong of the winter froze our faces

No Other Way 04:17
child on the run strangers on her trail she heads towards the sun sleeps on the ground with her bag of books and her good-luck charms tears on her face there's evil on the road there's beauty and grace she walks past places darkened by fear haunted by dreams of falling and she knows there is no other way I met her years ago a kid from a broken home with no place to go and I remember well the girl with a hundred lives and stories to tell in the eye of the storm she was light as a feather all skin and bones she walks past places darkened by fear haunted by dreams of falling and she knows there is no other way

gone are the days when an angel smiled watching over me oh I'm a rememberer there is a face up in the clouds high above the sea oh I'm a rememberer there is a place where your light shines on through the flowers and trees come out of here my lonely ghost let nights turn into days take another piece of my soul I am your willing prey I open the gates throw away the key and your spirit is here oh I'm a rememberer I call your name and reach out to you in my wildest dreams oh I'm a rememberer come out of here my lonely ghost let nights turn into days take another piece of my soul I am your willing prey

awaking from a dream in the dark woods far away from home footsteps of a ghost follow me wherever I go birds perched on branches like question marks scattered high and low baby you're a leaf on the mighty river I hear you loud and clear no god holds the answers we rose from the ashes the land was ours at the crack of dawn strangers in haunted places we travel blind and no one sees us roam baby you're a leaf on the mighty river I hear you loud and clear no god holds the answers no one will take you in their boat but I just love the way you float I’m crying for the moon In the cold light of winter I’ve left my world of blue I’m near you in the water no one will take us in their boat but I just love the way we float

a blanket of grass and branches underneath the moon we lie there waiting for a ghost to come round promises and pledges secrets that we share while the stars light up the deep summer sky we open our hearts to the music that floats in the night What Color is Love Time Of No Reply Spirit Of Eden Pacific Ocean Blue Our Mother The Mountain ... familiar voices taking flight I sit on a bench in the sunshine my mum's in her garden my sister reads a novel my dad works in the house so many summers we spent together there this tender harmony I thought it was meant to last I piled up moments of fleeting light for later times and all these memories I have they're the blood of my life there’s a night I remember when I met a girl who left me hanging on the shadow of her smile I showed her a few chords on an old guitar my heart melted cos I'd found my guiding star I hope together we can walk through these sands of time enjoy the beauty of everything and make sense of our lives

1949 04:01
I rode a train through the winter landscape sleepy towns, churches and frozen lakes when I got to your place I saw the changes how your garden was overgrown with weeds your face was pale in the light of day you looked so frail beside the willow tree pretty pictures spread out on the table in your time they made you a beauty queen then your man was shot in the trenches and you withered fast on your trail of tears you wanted to share a story with me one I'd remember over the years it happened in 1949 a lost little girl knocked on your door you gave her food and she stayed forever now you had someone to care for when the time came for me to leave you shivered and whispered farewell in my ear and your story stayed with me
7.
I took you by the hand and led you through the woods - I knew your time had come your skin was pale in the glow of the moon - the night dragged you along we got to the black river and I watched you drown - you sank without a sound I thought our story was over and done with - but oh I was wrong am I cursed for being evil and letting you go now the sad song of the river will never ever leave me alone I see ripples and hear wails in my sleep - the spell you cast is so strong I'm possessed by a place beyond the hills - and the nights seem so long in my waking hours there's a voice in my head - and it sings of our downfall this lonely stream brought back from the dead - black river, black river moan am I cursed for being evil and letting you go now the sad song of the river will never ever leave me alone you will never ever leave me alone black river moan song of the water chills me to the bone black river moan

sitting in the dark on cold Sunday evenings I would spend a while by your side watching western movies to pass the time that was our life in black and white I dreamt we were cowboys out on the plain riding our horses far and wide not a word was spoken between you and I I guess we were the silent kind and in the Cheyenne autumn of your life you watched me go with no return the preacher man dressed in black shook his head and said "you gotta learn how to walk before you run" standing by the roadside you waved me goodbye a solitary man-child I don't know what may have troubled your mind you'll always be the silent kind
9.
I see you on the edge of falling down into the desolate well of long-lost wishes you say there's a dark star above you but in my eyes you shine and burn like a candle how long will you float in limbo hoping no one will see the depth of your sorrow ? I love you and my dreams are filled with your faint smile and your words like distant echoes the world is blind to your beauty I know the way this story goes you're the man in the shade singing your song softly and low but I'm listening always on a journey to places far beyond anyone's reach it's your curse and your blessing you've wandered for so long in mazes and I'm afraid of losing you to the devil's embraces you're swimming in a sea of white noise so lonely among the crowd and their hollow voices the world is blind to your beauty I know the way this story goes you're the man in the shade singing your song softly and low but I'm listening
10.
I remember you tending to flowers lost in your thoughts on warm summer days counting your blessings the good seeds you'd sown and time slowly slipped away even though you're gone you know I'll always be your son I'll walk through life with you by my side my gentle shadow early birds that we were when the house was quiet around coffee we talked as a teen I didn't give away much but with you I opened up you knew I have a good heart but a troubled soul too you loved me no matter what all the way through my darkest moments I walk up the hill to the place where you rest and memories start flooding in I still can't believe you're no longer here but for spending time with you I was blessed thank you for being so kind and so warm you were a lighthouse and a map for us all now the circle's broken
